  • Komodo dragons can smell with their tongue. This adaption helps them located their prey.

  • A komodo dragon has very large and powerful legs. This lets them run up to 20 mph to catch prey. Its long tail aids the organism with balance as it runs.

  • They have sharp claws that allow them to climb trees to catch birds and snakes.

  • The bit of a komodo dragon is deadly because it contains bacteria that infects the victim, even if it doesn’t die right away.

  • Because there is a lack of food, komodo dragons are very territorial and aggressive.
