Characteristics/Adaptations
  • Owls have both eyes in the front of their face which enhances their depth perception.

  • Owls can see distances very well and in low light conditions.

  • They have three eyelids. The first closes when the owl blinks and the second closes when the owl sleeps. The third eyelid is a thin layer of tissue that closes diagonally across the eye. This membrane cleans, moistens, and protects the surface of the eyes.

  • Eagle Owls are nocturnal.
